Today in Umbria, ribbons of fresh pasta are still made by hand, only local meats are cured, and meals center around the abundant produce from the land…simple, fresh, delicious. In this Umbrian tradition, Ristorante Villa Rey relies strongly on seasonal produce and locally sourced meats such as chingale (wild boar), and of course on the highly prized truffles that grow throughout the region.
The Villa operates under the “Farm to Table” philosophy and the Chef prepares imaginative 5-course dinner menus with as many “direct-from-the-producer” ingredients as possible. Always available are vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Our menu features customary dishes of the Italian region with a focus on the Lago de Trasimeno area which supplies a variety of fresh lake fish and the fagiolo dall’occhio (beans with eyes) that are only grown in the surrounding area. Both wine connoisseurs and casual sippers will delight in sampling the rich wines of central Italy stocked in the Villa wine cellar or by trying our organic house wine produced from grapes grown right on the property.
Villa Rey’s half board options include 5-course dinners, an expansive breakfast buffet including a seasonal selection of fruit, locally produced cheeses and meats, a variety bread and jams, as well as coffee from the roaster down the street, and a wide selection of teas and juices.
In the afternoon, enjoy teatime where fresh-baked cake, cereals, and a seasonal selection of fruit are served. Or lounge by the pool with a carefully hand-selected bottle of wine.
We invite you to share in our love of the charming culture and enticing cuisine of Italy’s farm country. Make your reservation today to holiday, and better yet, to eat at Villa Rey.
